The Accord Party candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Hon. Babatunde Olusanjo Dasaolu, has promised to prioritise grassroots empowerment, healthcare, youth employment and community-based security if elected.
Dasaolu, who stated this while speaking on his campaign and development agenda, said ordinary people should remain at the centre of political decision-making, stressing that the electorate had the constitutional power to determine who represents them.
According to him, his campaign has commenced with grassroots consultations across communities in Abeokuta South, where he claimed residents had expressed willingness to support the Accord Party and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He urged residents not to lose hope in the electoral process, noting that many people he had encountered during his consultations appeared discouraged and reluctant to vote. He, however, encouraged them to see their votes as an instrument for expressing their choice and demanding accountability from political leaders.
On his proposed development agenda, Dasaolu said providing basic amenities and empowering residents would be central to his representation. He said farmers would be supported with the necessary equipment and resources to improve agricultural production and livelihoods.
He also promised greater attention to healthcare, including efforts to expand access to health insurance for residents, saying affordable and accessible healthcare remained essential to improving the wellbeing of the people.
The Accord candidate equally identified youth empowerment and employment as major priorities. He said many young people and artisans possessed valuable skills but lacked the tools and equipment needed to establish sustainable livelihoods.
Dasaolu therefore promised to support apprentices, artisans and skilled workers with equipment and other forms of assistance that could enable them to put their skills to productive use and become economically independent.
On security, he described the protection of lives and property as a critical responsibility, promising to support security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, with necessary equipment and resources.
He also advocated stronger community policing, arguing that residents should play a greater role in protecting their communities because people living within a community are often better positioned to identify security threats and provide useful information.
Dasaolu said a properly organised community-based security structure would complement the efforts of conventional security agencies and help improve the protection of lives and property at the grassroots.
He called on residents of Abeokuta South Federal Constituency not to surrender their political power, urging them to participate actively in the electoral process and make informed choices based on the programmes and capacity of candidates.
“People should not lose hope,” Dasaolu said, maintaining that his ongoing consultations were aimed at restoring confidence among residents and encouraging them to participate in the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence that sustained engagement with communities would help reconnect the electorate with the political process, while pledging to make grassroots development and the welfare of constituents central to his campaign.
