The Yewa Youth Association (YYA) has joined key stakeholders across Ogun West in renewed efforts to secure the governorship position for the region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held on March 22, 2026, youth leaders and community representatives deliberated on strategies to break what has been described as a long-standing political jinx preventing Ogun West from producing a state governor.
The engagement, organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ogun West Chapter, was themed “Ogun West Youth Townhall Engagement.” It attracted participants from over 80 communities and towns across the region. The event took place at the Recreation Centre in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Speaking during the meeting, YYA President, Comrade Olanrewaju Isikalu Alamu, stressed the need for unity among stakeholders, urging youths and political actors to embrace the principle of “One Mission, One Goal.”
According to him, the concept underscores the importance of setting aside personal and political differences in pursuit of a common objective—ensuring that a credible candidate from Ogun West secures the governorship ticket in 2027.
He noted that such collective commitment would require sacrifice, discipline, and unwavering support from all stakeholders across the region.
Isikalu further assured that youths in Ogun West are prepared to mobilise massive electoral support for any political party that presents a credible candidate from the zone, emphasizing their readiness to translate unity into votes during the election.
The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations and grassroots engagements aimed at strengthening the push for Ogun West’s political inclusion in the state’s leadership ahead of the next electoral cycle.
