The Ogun State Council of Baales has officially endorsed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the sole governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.
The endorsement was unanimously ratified during the Council’s statutory monthly meeting held on April 30, 2026, at Atan in Ijebu North East Local Government Area, reaffirming the traditional institution’s strong backing for the senator’s gubernatorial ambition.
In a statement signed by the President of the Ogun State Council of Baales, Baale Tunji Falola JP, GCCF, the council described the endorsement as a reflection of the longstanding relationship between Senator Adeola and Baales across the state, noting that their support extends beyond the election into his prospective administration.
According to the statement, the Council pledged not only to support Senator Adeola’s emergence at the polls but also to actively participate in his administration to ensure Ogun State achieves greater progress.
Speaking on the political development, Baale Tunji Falola expressed gratitude to the leadership of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a wise decision in allowing Senator Adeola to emerge as the party’s sole candidate.
He noted that despite previous concerns over whether Adeola would secure the APC ticket, the senator’s popularity, track record, and grassroots acceptance made him the preferred choice.
Falola stated that Senator Adeola’s emergence was a testament to his years of dedication, political strength, and commitment to the people of Ogun State.
Highlighting the senator’s past contributions to the welfare of Baales, Falola recalled Adeola’s instrumental role in securing monthly stipends for registered Baales in Ogun State.
He explained that through persistent advocacy and Adeola’s intervention, the state government approved a monthly financial support scheme for Baales, increasing the initial proposed ₦5,000 stipend to ₦10,000, with implementation beginning in early 2023.
The Baales Council described this intervention as a landmark achievement that demonstrated Adeola’s dedication to grassroots governance, traditional leadership, and community welfare.
Falola further praised Senator Adeola for consistently standing by traditional rulers and local leaders, adding that his administration would prioritize inclusive governance and sustainable development.
He called on all Baales, their families, and communities across Ogun State to remain united and mobilize support for Senator Adeola’s 2027 governorship ambition.
“With Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, we believe Ogun State is on the path to greater progress. We are committed to rowing this boat together to a higher level,” Falola said.
The endorsement is seen as a major political boost for Senator Adeola as he continues to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
