Nigerian-American basketball talent, Zion Obanla, has taken a major step in his professional career after signing with Danish basketball club BK Vejen for the 2026–27 season.
Obanla, who holds both Nigerian and United States citizenship, is set to begin his professional basketball journey in Denmark following an impressive collegiate career at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES).
The 6-foot-8 forward enjoyed a productive senior season, averaging 10.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 60.4 per cent from the field.
His performances earned him recognition as an All-MEAC Second Team selection and an invitation to the 2026 HBCU All-Star Game, further underlining his growing reputation in collegiate basketball.
Known for his athleticism, versatility and defensive ability, Obanla has developed into a well-rounded player capable of making an impact on both ends of the court. His defensive qualities have particularly stood out as one of the strongest aspects of his game.
His move to BK Vejen represents a significant milestone as he transitions from college basketball in the United States to the professional game in Europe.
