The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday led officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force on a walkathon in Abuja to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day.
The exercise, which commenced from the Force Headquarters and terminated at the Unity Fountain, drew participation from police personnel and members of the public in a show of unity and collective responsibility for national security.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the police authorities said the walkathon, themed “Together We Walk, Together We Secure,” was designed to foster stronger collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
According to the Force, the initiative is part of a series of activities lined up nationwide to celebrate National Police Day, with similar walkathons being held across various Commands and Formations.
The event also aimed at promoting physical fitness among officers while reinforcing trust, cooperation, and partnership between the police and the public in maintaining peace and security.
