The leadership of the four major youth associations in Ogun State has formed a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring an end to divisive politics and calling for greater youth inclusion in governance and decision-making across the state.
The resolution was reached after a strategic meeting of the National President of the Egba Youth Association, the National President of the Ijebu Youth Association, the President of the Yewa Youth Association and the President of the Remo Youth Association, who agreed to strengthen their collaboration under the umbrella of the RIYE G4 Youth Leadership of Ogun State.
In a joint communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the youth leaders said the platform would serve as the highest coordinating body for community youth associations across Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba, with a shared commitment to speaking with one voice on matters affecting the future of Ogun State.
The group maintained that the era of dividing Ogun youths along sectional or zonal interests for political advantage must come to an end, insisting that the progress of one zone is the collective responsibility of all.
The RIYE G4 leadership also urged political parties and aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections to place youth development at the heart of their programmes by prioritising education, employment, entrepreneurship, empowerment and meaningful participation of young people in governance.
According to the communiqué, the group will engage political parties, candidates and other stakeholders based on competence, credibility, integrity, equity and a genuine commitment to the development of Ogun State, stressing that its support would not be influenced by sentiment or political tokenism.
The youth leaders further stated that any candidate seeking the support of Ogun youths must present clear, practical and measurable policies capable of addressing the aspirations and challenges facing young people in the state.
They also appealed to youths across the four divisions to remain peaceful, law-abiding and actively involved in the democratic process while embracing dialogue, unity and mutual respect.
Reaffirming their commitment to the unity, security, equity and sustainable development of Ogun State, the RIYE G4 Youth Leadership pledged to continue championing policies and leadership that reflect the aspirations of the people and guarantee a brighter future for generations to come.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Hon. Adekunle Adewale Rasaq, National President of the Egba Youth Association; Hon. Pastor Okikiola Fayomi, National President of the Ijebu Youth Association; Comrade Isikalu Olanrewaju Alamu, President of the Yewa Youth Association; and Comrade Eleda Muyiwa, President of the Remo Youth Association.
