President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday officially swore in Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police and inaugurated commissioners into key federal commissions before chairing the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
At a short ceremony held prior to the council session, the President administered the oath of office to Disu, formally confirming his appointment as the nation’s police chief.
In the same event, Tinubu also inaugurated six commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and two commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).
Following the swearing-in, the President presided over the FEC meeting, which witnessed the attendance of top government functionaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Esther Walson-Jack.
The Federal Executive Council meeting typically considers memoranda on national policies, budgetary matters, and strategic projects. In recent weeks, some sessions have extended into additional days, with key directives such as the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles for government agencies approved.
