Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has cautioned his supporters against mounting campaign billboards and posters ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.
Adeola, who represents Ogun West and chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriation, made the appeal in a statement released on Tuesday through his media aide, Chief Kayode Odunaro.
He acknowledged the overwhelming support and confidence shown by his followers but stressed that political campaigns must follow due process, noting that the All Progressives Congress has yet to release its official timetable for primaries.
The lawmaker also clarified that he has not formally declared his intention to contest the governorship seat, adding that he is still consulting and awaiting party guidelines.
According to him, the premature display of campaign materials does not align with established party procedures. He urged his supporters to exercise restraint and remain patient until the appropriate time for campaigns is announced.
Adeola further emphasized his long-standing commitment to grassroots politics rooted in discipline and adherence to rules, calling on his backers to reflect those values in their actions.
While appreciating the resources and effort invested by supporters, he assured them that their loyalty would not be taken for granted, even as he advised them to stay within the bounds of political regulations.
