The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a swipe at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of failing to effectively tackle Nigeria’s worsening security crisis.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, the party said the country needs decisive leadership, not repeated expressions of sympathy following deadly attacks across various states.
The ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticized what it described as a pattern of recycled assurances by the president, which it said have failed to translate into meaningful action or improved security outcomes.
Writing via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Abdullahi argued that the president’s frequent “enough is enough” declarations have become predictable responses to tragic incidents, without tangible results on the ground.
He listed multiple instances since 2023 where the president made similar statements following violent attacks in states such as Plateau, Benue, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Kwara, noting that the situation has remained largely unchanged.
According to him, the recurring cycle of violence—ranging from mass killings to abductions and attacks on communities—continues unabated despite repeated presidential assurances.
The ADC spokesman further pointed to fresh attacks recorded during the Easter period, which reportedly affected parts of Kaduna, Borno, Plateau, and Benue states, leading to loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of residents.
He warned that such repeated statements from the presidency are no longer reassuring to Nigerians but instead reflect a sense of helplessness.
The party maintained that the country cannot afford to continue on the current path, stressing that Nigerians deserve strong and proactive leadership capable of confronting insecurity head-on.
“The nation needs a real Commander-in-Chief, not a Chief Mourner,” Abdullahi stated.
