The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the Minister urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during Ramadan.
He also called on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and continued progress.
While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, the government encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and show kindness to the less privileged.
The statement reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
