President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to take direct control of security operations following recent terrorist attacks in Borno State.
The directive was disclosed on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga via X.
Reacting to the incidents, the President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to victims and affected families. He also assured residents of the Federal Government’s unwavering support during the difficult period.
Describing the attacks as desperate acts by weakened insurgents, Tinubu stated that the perpetrators were under sustained pressure from Nigerian security forces. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to intensifying operations against all forms of criminality across the country.
The President further praised the courage and resilience of troops who successfully repelled coordinated assaults on military formations, noting that their efforts continue to weaken terrorist groups operating in the region.
Tinubu also revealed that additional military equipment and operational support had recently been approved to strengthen ongoing security efforts. According to him, the deployment process is already underway.
As part of immediate measures, he ordered top security officials to move to Maiduguri to oversee operations firsthand, while directing emergency agencies to provide urgent medical care and relief to victims.
Reiterating his stance, the President declared that no part of Nigeria would be safe for terrorists, vowing that security forces would track, confront, and ultimately defeat all threats to national peace.
