Leaders, youths, and key stakeholders from across Ijoun Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, strengthening security, and driving sustainable community development at the Ijoun Youth Summit held in Ijoun, Ogun State.
The summit, held at Finest Hotel, Ijoun, attracted representatives of various youth groups, youth associations, Community Development Associations (CDAs), traditional institutions, and community stakeholders, who gathered to deliberate on critical issues affecting the progress and future of the kingdom.
Representing the Onijoun of Ijoun Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Gabriel Akanbi Ogunji, Arapotaniyewo I, the Adele Oba of Onijoun Kingdom, Hon. Chief Olaleye Alani Emmanuel, charged youths to see themselves as the first line of defense in safeguarding the community.
He urged them to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and committed to protecting lives and property, while cautioning against taking the law into their own hands.
According to him, all disputes and grievances should be resolved through lawful and peaceful channels.
At the end of the deliberations, participants adopted key resolutions aimed at fostering lasting peace and development in Ijoun. They stressed that security is a collective responsibility and called on every youth to actively contribute to maintaining law and order within the community.
The summit also emphasized the importance of environmental sanitation, urging residents to work together in protecting and keeping the community clean. Youth organizations and associations were encouraged to strengthen unity, mutual respect, collaboration, and peaceful coexistence as essential ingredients for community growth.
On infrastructure, participants were informed that the Ijoun Council of Obas is intensifying efforts to secure improved and stable electricity supply for the kingdom.
The summit further reaffirmed the constitutional right of every citizen to freely associate with any political party without intimidation or discrimination.
Participants also expressed support for the aspiration of producing the next Governor of Ogun State from Ogun West.
Speaking during the summit, the President of the Yewa Youth Association (YYA), Comrade Isikalu Olanrewaju ÀLÀMÚ, underscored the need to build strong and vibrant youth organizations capable of driving positive change across Ijoun, Yewaland, and beyond.
He called on young people to remain united, responsible, and actively involved in leadership, community service, and nation-building, noting that the future of the community depends largely on the commitment and contributions of its youth.
The summit ended with a collective resolve by participants to continue working together to build a more peaceful, secure, united, and prosperous Ijoun Kingdom.
