ABEOKUTA — The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has officially assumed duty at the state command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, with a strong warning to criminals and erring officers.
Ojajuni, who previously served as Commissioner of Police at the INTERPOL Nigeria National Central Bureau, takes over from the newly promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo.
Addressing journalists on Monday, the new police boss expressed confidence that his prior experience within the command would enhance efforts to tackle insecurity across the state. He emphasized that his leadership would strictly align with the policy direction of the Inspector-General of Police.
Ojajuni issued a stern warning against misconduct within the Force, declaring zero tolerance for abuse of power, indiscipline, human rights violations, and corruption.
According to him, discipline and professionalism will remain the foundation of policing under his watch, stressing that officers must uphold respect for human dignity and the rule of law in all operations.
He also called on members of the public to see the police as partners in maintaining law and order, urging mutual respect and cooperation.
The Commissioner assured residents that his administration would prioritize proactive policing, inclusiveness, and collaboration with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, the media, and other security agencies.
Ojajuni further pledged to be accessible and responsive, noting that fairness, justice, and equity would guide his actions as he works to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Ogun State.
